Today as I was cleaning our room (we are having family over for a birthday dinner for hubby tomorrow), I wondered why it is people put their guest coats on their bed?
I tried a few phrases in google and couldn't find the origin.
Do you know why people do this?

Maybe it's because it's one room that people won't go into and it has the most coat room?
:) LOL!! I never really thought about his!! Hmm... We don't do that since our room is upstairs, but I know a lot of people who do! Let me know if you find out.
Because.... it's a way to get all the cat hair off your bed without letting your guests know that they were in on it!!! Ü
Hmmm...interesting thought! I think I agree with Crystal...but that's just my common sense kicking in I guess. :) So far we've never done that. I guess we've never had SO many guests over at once that we couldn't just hang their coats up on the hooks by the door. :)
Just in case you have boring guests...if you have their coats on your bed you can't just crawl into it and go to sleep before they leave?

What a funny question! When we have company all the bedroom doors are shut- no one allowed in. That is were I threw all the stuff to get the rest of the house clean!
