::Dance::

Last Friday night Merci went to her first school dance. I know...5th grade seems so young. We deliberated for days on whether to let her go or not. We figured we'd get her dressed up and have Josh take her on a date or something, but Josh needed to go be with his moms and aunt because Grandma was going downhill again (she died on Sunday 12/5).

So we decided to let her go, because of a lot of reasons, #1 parents were encouraged to come, so I went with her. #2 most 8th graders would not be there and from talking to moms, this 8th grade class is not as mature as some. #3 I didn't want her to miss the social aspect of it.

And let me say I am so excited we let her go, but man did it bring back memories and make me what to dance! I didn't know this until we got there, but no slow dancing was allowed, and the kids would get a time out if they didn't anything unacceptable. There were about 50 or so adult to about 100 kids, so it was a great atmosphere for the kids to just have fun! They all danced all night long there was no awkward girls in one corner and boys in the other. I love our school!

While there I realized my brothers wedding is coming QUICK and soon Ill be a dancing queen myself=) Just last week Ethan and Josh went to get fitted for their tuxes...and boy is Ethan going to look so HANDSOME...Josh too;)
All the girls bridesmaid dresses are in, Merci has her dress, so things are getting pulled together quite well. After the new year it will be all about showers and bachelorette/bachelor parties!! Woo hoo!

The Par-TAY

The Glam station
The girls got all glammed up with sparkles everywhere, nail polish, necklaces and jewel tatoos.

The we decorated cardboard guitars

They turned out so cute!
I painted them black and then put the silver sparkle paint on, the girls embellished!

Punch in fake wine glasses and blow up microphones!

Some yummy ice cream cake!!

We also had a jam session with the guitars, and the girls made up dance routines, and we did High School musical Wii karakoe!

Wish I could post more, but don't know how to black out faces and don't want to put other peoples kids on here without permission.

I am so not old enough to have a 9 year old child, but I do! Here are some snippets from over the years!

We will be celebrating Rock Star style on Saturday night. Pictures to come!

It is off, did you even know it was on??

A little over 3 weeks ago, Merci went roller skating with her friend for a birthday party. While she was there a bigger boy stood on her foot while getting up to stand, he had a roller skate on (ouch). Merci refused the parents attempt to bring her home, and because her foot didn't look swollen or anything nobody even thought it was broken.
We didn't even take her to the ER for x-ray's till Monday morning, the accident happened Saturday night. Such bad parents, I know. But Merci does have a tendency to be dramatic, so we just wanted to make sure.

She broke the metatarsal bone.

Today was 3 weeks since she got her bright pink cast on and because the healing was going well, no further cast is needed, but she needs to be very careful, no running, jumping, etc, etc....

Merci was very nervous about the cutting off of the cast.
The tech showed her on his skin that the blade does not cut, and then offered to show her on her skin, she freaked out. My mom volunteered and Merci was still scared, my chicken little!
Ethan is covering his ears because of the vacuum attached to the blade hose was loud.

Too good not to post

Today Merci and I were driving to a store.
We drove past a bar, that had a sign up.

Dancers wanted

Merci: That sign said dancers wanted, I'm a dancer.
Me: LOL
Merci: But I am a dancer mom
Me: Not that kind of dancer Merci.
Me: remind me to put that on my blog later, Merci.

RIP Joey

Last night we burried our furry little friend Joey (our gerbil).
He was an evil little thing, he would attack us when we fed him, and we were never really able to hold him, but he was oh so cute.
And we all loved our Joey.

Merci picked him up and put him into a little Irish Spring soap box and we dug a deep hole. Merci was a champ about it. I let her take my one living flower from my birthday bouquet and place in on his site, just her and him alone.
She came inside with red eyes and tears and a big hug for me.
"I want to go get a new one, " were the first words outta her mouth.
(do I really want to do this again in a few years?? or sooner?)

This morning she again had a breakdown, poor girl.
At 5 Am she came in my room wanting to sleep with us because she was having a dream she was a little mouse...and was dying. Awe=(

On the way to school I was trying to soothe her sad little heart, explaining that as the days go by her sadness will be less and less.

She burst out crying, "It seems like it is getting worse, and he was evil so he isn't going to heaven...waaaahhhhh."

It was at that point I started cracking up laughing, out loud, and I am not usually an out loud laugher.

So then we had to talk about how animals don't really go to heaven and hell......and all that hoopla.

I think we may go get a new little pet tonight...why not, I have the food and bedding and all the stuff for one anyway.

Gerbil dilema

Our gerbil, Joey seems to be dying. It is pretty obvious. He can barely walk, he falls over, we think he is blind too. We have never been able to touch the thing, it would attack. We can now. It is so sad to see, he is really skinny and you can see he is having a hard time breathing.

What do we do?? My daughter is having a very hard time watching him like this, as I am too. Will a vet even put a gerbil to sleep and it it gonna cost me a ton of $? My mom said to put him outside in his cage maybe it would speed up his death, that seems kinda mean to me...but so is making him die slowly.

Oh, the drama....

Do we go buy another right away? I mean we do have the cage, the food etc??

This is why I don't having pets.

What do you think?

Trying

*to get back into blogging normally. Been missing documenting certain things.

*to not complain, but to take it as a learning moment
(like wood floors make cat hair float ALL over, never had hair problems with carpet, and ceramic tile is slippery, and since it is white, I really miss by ugly brown linoleum floors)

*to remember I don't like moving

*to be ok, with chaos for awhile

*to appreciate the life and stuff I have

*to make time

She is so grounded

So my wonderful little daughter, just got herself in big trouble at school.

I just got a call from the principal.

Merci decided it would be fun to open up an Oreo cookie spit in it and give it to another student.
Just because she felt like fooling around.
WTH????

That is nasty, disgusting and I didn't even giver her Oreo's.

Where do they come up with this stuff?

She was already warned by 8 this morning if her behavior didn't change she would be in her room for the night.

So guess where she will be tonight?

That is after we look at our house again.....possible bidding this week=)

My Girl

Usually it is E who has the funny things to say/do it was M today!

After school we saw a pimped out Jeep drive by (we are partial o Jeep's since I drive one, and because daddy likes to point out pimped out ones!) Anyway...right on top was a HUGE dead dear.
M started freaking out....

M: "Oh my, Oh my gosh, when I am president I will make that illegal, no killing those ::start baby talk voice here:: poor baby deers, oh those poor things....wawawa" (drama queen?? YEP)
_____________________________________________________________________

When M was looking through her homework assignment books, she saw that it said
Yom Kippur starts at sundown. Her being a child who cannot be left out of ANYTHING, insisted to daddy that we celebrate Yom Kippur. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with Jewish holidays, but since we are not Jewish, me nor my husband really knew what it was they celebrated and how. I proceeded to look it up on the good old net and found out the not so desirable way in which it is celebrated (she was not interested in not eating for the whole day), she wasn't interested, she was u=interested in finding out where we could find a pool to cleanse in though. That girl, I know she was thinking ...POOL PARTAYYYY!!

Miss my baby girl

Today we went to my Aunts house for "dessert day."

Elephant ears, smores, blueberry cobbler, my grandma's awesome cake, chocolate dipped strawberries....we did have spaghetti and nachos in there somewhere too
(yep, right to the thighs, I know..I'm gonna walk tomorrow, I am.)

Anyway, she has all these pictures of my kids on the wall when they were little, I mean itty bitty, in like I cannot believe that was my kid.
Pictures from when E was born and M was holding him, staring at him adoringly
(that didn't last long)...
They were so tiny and sweet.
I realized how much I miss dressing up my little girl, if she was still that little and took my fashion advice (which she DOES not) I'd be able to buy her stuff like these adorable things from
Tea Collection...oh my, it is sooooo CUTE.

Someday she will listen to me when I tell her something in cute or not so cute right??
I didn't loose that forever did I?

Eeewwww

My kids have been playing so nicely outside...it is kinda nice.
BUT what they have been playing with is NOT.

Dead bees....they are inspecting and dissecting and playing with it as their pet or something. Weirdos.

At least it is educational--I guess.

Wordless Wednesday...or not

Last Wednesday July 9th was Merci's 8th birthday. I had pre-wrote some posts to keep you entertained (or not) while we were on vacation so I didn't get a chance to wish her a Happy Birthday!

Here are some pics from the past 8 years!
( I found a folder with some of her scanned professional photos, thought it be fun to share!)

Weekend Roundup

A busy weekend for sure.

Saturday was Merci's Luau birthday party. We had her friend party and then later in the evening we had our family party. It was a LONG day for sure. Josh worked in the AM so I had to prepare and set up all by myself (E was at my aunts and my brothers girlfriend came for the kids party, both a great help.) I was nice to have a few hours to clean up and sit for a bit. The parties went very good and Merci had much FUN!!

Each girl got to have a PINK coconut cup
(Thank You Target dollar section!!)

I served fruit kabobs as a snack, and luckily my day lilies were in bloom for accents, how PERFECT!!

Onto SUNDAY.
Sunday was one of our weeks to do Sunday school. And after than I was excited to have nothing to do, and then Josh's friend Pete called to invite us over for a party for his girlfriends daughter, and then my brother called and wanted to meet us at the beach to ride the jet ski's. UGH, forget relaxing. The jet ski date didn't work out so we napped for a few hours and went to Pete's. I was nervous I have never met him and wouldn't know anyone there. It ended up being a great time. There were tons of kids and ones that were age compatible with mine, BONUS.
We played with Rosco the toad and road dirt bikes of all sizes, swam and just really enjoyed the company of the strangers.

AND

I actually kinda had an extended weekend because I got to go out for a girls night with a few friends on MONDAY. We went to The Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant) YUMMY!! It was ladies night so we also got a spa treatment, we all picked the hand paraffin! The we wandered a few stores and then decided to do goofy photo shoots in a public area. We had to keep reminding ourselves how old we were!! Fun times. Oh and while wandering the outdoor shopping we were blessed with a beautiful view of a FULL rainbow (even thought I couldn't capture the whole thing in a picture)
